The other day I randomly flipped open an old book I have and this little note was tucked inside, with a dried carnation:
It's a little painting of a potted flower and reads: Elsie Pisell age 11. Date March 11, 1922
And on the back it is addressed to a woman named Ada Bell in sweetly loopy writing. And then also dedicated: To Mamma.I love this.

I love this, too! Old letters and drawings and such just make me melt! What unexpected treasure...
Love the names therein. Makes me wonder who they were then and what happened to them. And then I want to take all my guessings and ponderings and write a book:)
Me too-it'd be so neat to find out whatever happened to them :)
Wow!! What an amazing discovery. How precious to find something like that after 86 years. I think you need to do a painting of the little artist.
How wonderful and sweet. I wonder if it was the mother who pressed it in the book. I love old letters and things like that. What a find.
So Do I!!

I love, love, love finding little treasures in books! I once purchased a vintage book printed in German and it was filled with four leaf clovers!
What a great find Heather:)
Wow - that's just amazing! And it will be so fun to wonder and imagine about the lives of the people mentioned and the intentions behind such a sweet little gift. You just never know what treasures can be found in those delicious old books. Theresa
