Well, it's Tuesday again! That means its....
Like many an Oklahoma girl, my 'life on a farm' experiences consisted mainly of farms with cattle and horses. I had never really thought of farming in terms of small animals such as sheep or goats, that is until I started reading about Tasha...
I mean, how cute is that little nubian goat?! The first time I saw this photo I had an extreme Ellie May Clampett moment of "oooh I want a goat!!" How could you resist a face like that? What is also great about goats is that they can be raised and utilized without their 'use' resulting in their ending up on the dinner table (in a not alive sort of way ;) ) Sure, you can eat lamb or goat, but in my 'someday farmer' state of mind, I don't think I could do it. I think I'd be perfectly happy with fresh milk or cheese or wool. Just like Tasha.
This past weekend we headed out to Shepherd's Cross in Claremore, Ok. to visit the farm and the critters and take part in a photo shoot for Oklahoma Agritourism. This is also the place that currently sells some of my artwork! Of course our favorite part was when we got to pet and snuggle some of the critters, including this little lamb (her mama died and she had to be bottle fed all spring) and this sweet little Mr. Goat.
And guess who cried for her own goat half the way home? lol.....well, as much as I'd love one, it wasn't me! But look at those little faces? That goat was such a sweetheart, and loved the floppy ears.On my 'someday farm' I think it would be fun to have a few little goats and a few little sheep. And some fluffy footed chickens. And a big sheep dog, of course. And perhaps some ducks (what are ducks for though, really?) barn cats and of course my bunnies! So far my farm consists of just the bunnies though ;) and they still haven't seemed to figure out how to have little baby bunnies. I'm wondering if they'll be the first childless bunny couple in history ;) but they seem content to just be together! Oh, Mr. Darcy and Lizzie.....
What about you? Do you have a dream of owning some acreage and animals? Do you already? What would you have on your farm, or what do you raise? Has Tasha ever inspired you to adopt a certain critter--- say a goat or a corgi? Oh, let's add a corgi to my list too ;)
I'm going to be a very busy some day farmer!~

Well I do dream of land out in the middle of nowhere but this is where I am not very Tasha Tudor. I am phobicly scared of most animals like cows. I like to see them from a distance but not own them. My good friend just got two sheep. I am headed there today, I will enjoy them from a distance xoxo Clarice
Yay! Essie the sheep and Mr. Goat! Its good to see them and I'm glad you enjoyed your time on the farm!

You know Heather at one time my big dream was to own a farm and have Angora goats....I still wouldn't pass up the opportunity if it presented itself!
Wonderful pictures and the sweetest looking little girl I have seen in a very long time!

I soooo want some land. We had land at one time, 40 acres. Now we're in a subdivision and I hate it!
I want fruit trees, a goat or two and some sheep!
I have to agree.. there are very few of us Oklahoma girls who have not had some experience on a farm.. Im thankful for it everyday...
Oh yes! I dream of miniature horses :) They are such magical creatures!
Do swans count? I'd also like a peacock hmmmm I'm not much on useful animals am I? hee!
I also adore rabbits and have had a few as pets but I'd like something that could roam free!
What a great post, the pictures are so sweet! :) I am a huge animal lover so I want all of the above!! But for now its just three kitties :) ~Lauren
You're so cute Heather. I can so see you being a "farmer" someday. And that's so funny about your bunnies--you know what they say about rabbits ;)
And yes, I do have a little critter, that I love--it's our turtle!
Oh my goodness! This post spoke to my heart. I think I've mentioned on my blog before how I'd adore to live on a farm and have oodles of goats and sheep and bunnies and cows and dogs (of course) and llamas. Every time we go to country fairs I linger over all the pretty animals. My heart truly belongs to goats. I LOVE them!!! Of course, I'd do all the baking as well from the fruits and veggies my farmer husband would grow! LOL Whenever I see goats, I always go "I want one!" Just not feasible where we live now.
I loved seeing the photos of you and your little Audrey. I can understand why she'd be crying for one - I feel the same way oftentimes.
Awesome Tasha post!!! Theresa
My family lives on a ranch where we raise Hereford cattle and sheep. We also have horses, chickens, cats and two border collie dogs. Our son, who lives next to us has a Corgi, partly inspired by TT.

Did you think having a goat might be you until you met the goat and got a in person experience?
I had a bit of a dreamy I would love a miniature horse a few years back. I researched online. They all looked SO small and slender like a real miniature horse.
Then I drove out to see them in person BOY !!! they were really big, bulky and not as interative as I had thought.
I drove home and was greeted by my dog. Who was suddenly super smart, small and cuddly! hee hee... the perfect tiny pony.
