a friday musing

I don't know if this happens to other artists or creative people, but my art tends to go in cycles. Lately, I've found myself drawn to the subjects that I started out painting when I made this little blog and business in 2007. The idea of angels and motherhood. Nurturing souls, I suppose. I don't know if it's because its springtime....or that my little one's birthday just passed....or if I just need a change. But the angels just keep flying onto the canvas....

Can you spot the angel in this disaster area of an art table? (hint, she's on the easel on the left!) I really love this painting. I can't wait to get her properly photographed and show her to you. Today is rather gray though....and rain is threatening....so I think the photographing will have to wait. Besides, I don't have a title for her yet.

With the impending rain coming and the skies so gray, its a very lazy day. I have lots of good things to read as well. I got a large book about Sacajawea at the library the other day and I'm enjoying it even if it did have a bit of a slow start. Sacajawea, in my humble opinion, is one of the most amazing women in our history. Her story is beyond amazing.

I also finally managed to track down a copy of Simple Abundance after searching three bookstores. I have heard so many amazing things about this book, that it is life changing and recharging. Have you read it? I cant wait to start.

Well, there's a little girl cuddling on the couch watching Yo Gabba Gabba looking awfully cute. I think I'll get a book and join her and wait for the rain. I hope there's thunder ;)

Have a great weekend!~

I tend to find myself going through cycles too, I often fall in love with a medium and after a while stop loving it. I look forward to seeing your angels!

Oh yes, I think we all go through cycles. Or try out different things and go back to some familiar favorites perhaps?
Can't wait to see your angel...

Sacajawea sounds like a good read, I love biographies.Simple Abundance, I think I have and never got around to yet ;)
We're set to have thunderstorms too I think-the clouds seem to be rolling in.
Have a Happy Weekend~

The sun is shinning here, a glorious day to be outside. I am watching so many things sprouting in my garden beds, unfortunately nothing planted by me. Mother Nature seems to think I should eat more weeds, I guess. :)Bea

Hello Heather! Love the new look of the blog. :) I think we probably all go through stages with our creations. It is never wrong to recycle or freshen things up a bit. I can't wait to see more of your new Angel. I've heard of Simple Abundance but have never read it. I'll have to look into it. :) Have a wonderful weekend!!! Theresa

Simple Abundance helped me so much. I still do my gratitude journal, erh, I should say when I do it, it really changes things. I know you will enjoy the book.

We are having a cool, sunny, blue sky day here in the Midwest. But if it has to rain then I would definitely want thunder. I love Spring rain storms.

I know I go through cycles in my writing, too, strange as it may sound. I love the cover for Simple Abundance! And Sacajawea has always fascinated me. I have a couple of books on my shelf about her that I haven't read yet but am dying to.
Your art table is wonderful. It really looks like a joyful place!

I have read the big book about Sacajawea and loved it. Lewis and Clark relied so very much upon her skills. She was indeed a great person.

Simple Abundance will have to be a good one for me to scope. I love all of that sort of good thinking, and I thank you for sharing it!

Hugs,

Zwee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found Simple Abundance in the thrift shop quite a few years ago, I read it all in under a week and loved it! I gave it to my Mum for Christmas too, but she never read it! She's missing out. Such a perfect book, and you don't even need to read it cover to cover, just open any page and you gain wisdom. great for people like me who tend to forget sometimes!

The cycle thing is a heavy theme with people right now- I'm in one, moving back to themes and colours (yes colours!) I used to work around years ago. I feel like I'm peeling the onion.
