"Gathering the daffodils"
We're in the studio this morning because Audrey insisted we "Make! Paint! Make-a-doll!" That last part you'd understand better if you knew that Audrey thinks all the girls I paint are dolls.I've been trying my best to "make-a-doll" but we're all still sick. Seems we're sampling every cold and virus that comes down the block. I am beginning to hate February.
However, I HAVE made this little painting (Above) which I called "Bringing in the Daffodils." I am channeling spring. My daffodils are already poking up, long slender green shoots are blowing in the breeze. I am anxious.
I know they will bloom around Audrey's birthday, which is March 10. My baby will be 2! That's positively a child.
Since we've all been sick and miserable, I've been dreaming of a healthier life for us (fever-induced???) but am not sure where to start. I find myself buying the same old crap at the grocery store just because its easier to go on autopilot. I've been looking on Amazon for a good book to guide me in the ways to simplify and healthify (like that word I just made up?) our lives, but don't know quite what to look for. Any suggestions are welcome!!
When we get well enough to get out and about, my goal is to travel out to the city, to the honest-to-goodness health food store and explore. I guess that's the best way to learn, just get out and do.
I find myself wishing we lived out on a farm where I'd have enough room for a big garden, some adorable goats, chickens, and the whole hippie dippy bit. Maybe someday....
For now, you can find Gathering the Daffodils as well as Imogene the Beauty Queen from my last post for sale on etsy. They need a good home!

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. At least spring will be coming soon, and that's why I love daffodils. They are what I always considered to be the first sign of spring. There are some out by my mom's house that are already in full bloom!
As for books on health, I have a good one to recommend. It's called "Skinny Bitch: a no-nonsense, tough love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous" by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. I love it because it offers valuable diet advice but it's very entertaining too. There are some parts that are downright hilarious. The only warning I have is that it will tell you to quit eating ANYTHING that isn't healthy, which I don't completely agree with. My philosophy is to eat healthy most of the time, but cheating is definitely allowed. ;-)
Beautiful painting! I love the word "healthify!" They should add it to the dictionary. :) My birthday is March 12. Happy Birthday to your little one and yay for daffodils.
I think we all need to channel spring right now. I love your paintings. they are always beautiful! Hope you and your little one feel better soon.. i am just getting over a cold myself so i know the feeling.
In the 8th grade I had a exchange teacher from England who made us memorize the poem "Fair Daffidols. To this day I can recite it and when I see the flower I get reminded of the poem.Awe

We, too, are all sick!
And I am def. ready for spring and flowers. Sadly, we're still covered with snow! No plants coming up, that I can see anyway.
I can't believe you are still feeling sick, that is so crappy.
I am just getting over that cold, now if all the coldsores all over my lips would leave, I would feel better.
Audrey and I have March birthdays together only mine is at the end of the month.

No, don't hate February! It's my birthday month, afterall. :)
Sucks to be sick all the time though. I hate when all the viruses find their way to my house. It always seems to be worse when you have little ones. Whenever you have a kid under 4, they pretty much catch everything and then spread it to you. It gets better as they get older though.
Love your daffodils piece!
hi heather!
oh i hope you are all feeling better soon!
you would never know you do not feel good. what a beautiful painting you created!

I love seeing the little hat back in this painting! Yay!
Sorry Baby Fae is still sick. I don't have any advice as my twin and her boys eat so healthy(they love dinosaur trees-brocoli) and are always at the Y running around and swimming. Their dad is an ironman! I think it is just the age-she is building up all her immune stuff at this age and she will be getting sick now so she won't later on. I know it is awful(we went through it all with Zach and now with Little Mo), but it does get better as they get older.
They make a lot from scratch as Zach is allergic to peanuts and you can never be sure what is in a packaged something and they eat lots of fish, but, those boys still get sick! I think you are doing your best and it just part of Audrey growing up. Hoping you all fell better soon!
Love,merle

my tulips popped above ground the other day, barely pushing up the mulch in the garden!
Hope you are feeling a wee bit better at least. SO you can make dolls! lol! That's cute.

Hi, if it's any help i recently filled in a survey aimed at my son and they sent me a brilliant package with reading material and wall charts and stickers.I haven't had time to read it all yet but you can check it out at http://www.nhs.uk/change4life i'm sure you can pick out information and apply it in whatever way you see fit, i intend to give it ago. Good luck and keep well :-)
I absolutely love your artwork. Your girls are beautiful and unique. That is so cute that she calls them dolls. How sweet. I have no advice on health. I am always looking for the secret. I think the more germs the better in the long run, or so they say. :) Also I LOVE your antique store find. How wonderful. Jennifer
Thanks for your kind words on my new blog. All of your work is hauntingly beautiful. Your collages are so creative & i'm glad to know I can follow your art on etsy.
Take Care,
Julie : ) (The rubyvnest)
